Eco clubs in five Kolhapur schools have turned unused corners of their playgrounds into kitchen gardens.
Students grow spinach, fenugreek, tomatoes and beans that go straight into their mid-day meals. They also make compost from kitchen waste and water the beds with drip bottles.
Teachers say the gardens have become a favourite outdoor classroom for science lessons.
