More than 400 villagers, students and volunteers came together in Junnar to plant 2,500 native saplings along the ridge above the village.
We chose native species such as neem, banyan, jamun and karanj, which need less water and support local birds. Each family has adopted a few saplings to water through the dry months.
The gram panchayat has protected the area from grazing, and we will count surviving saplings again next year.
